Heat Wave @ 35 Weeks

We are in the midst of a heat wave in New Jersey; the temperatures have been well into the 90s for almost 2 weeks. we had a little relief over the weekend, but not much. John and I hit the beach on Saturday, but he was freaked out that I was going to get knocked over by someone on a boogie board who wasn't paying attention, so we weren't in the water very long. Fortunately there was a nice breeze and we were right up by the water.
I didn't take any pics of me this week to post, so here are our kitty babies for your enjoyment. Tux was reaching his paw out to John in the first photo, and then Tails, well, he is such a ham, and loves to sit on the computer. Before we had the flatscreen monitor, he would sleep on top of the monitor. They have both enjoyed exploring the nursery - Tails has been locked in a few times thanks to me not paying attention to him sneaking in with me sometimes. he likes to go under the crib. We have a water bottle that we spray them with if they go in or try to go in the crib or bassinette, but for the most part they have been pretty good.
No real update from the doctor's appointment this week. I don't think I gained any weight by my accounts from last Monday to this Monday, though I am most definitely feeling the extra weight more and more. I am definitely waddling, and feel like I am moving at a snail's pace when I walk. I have taken some liberties now that I am feeling more and more like NOT working, like going in later, and leaving as close to 5 as possible. But I have planned all along to try to work until 9/4 and then then work the first home RU football game on 9/7, and I do want to try to leave things in order for those taking over for me. I mean, I am coming back to work, so I don't want to be alarmed at what I'm going back to! But my co-workers have been great about running things to my boss all the way on the other side of the building, or trying to handle more of the wacky calls we seem to always get closer to the start of the season. Anyway, Dr. Passes said everything looks good and explained that I should call him when I have had contractions about every 5 minutes for an hour to an hour and a half, or when my water breaks of course. He told me the last 2 babies he delivered this month were born at 36 weeks. The women's water just broke - no contractions before hand, and fortunately, the babies and moms are healthy and fine. He said that was very unusual...and I of course reminded him that I will be 36 weeks on Sunday, so you know I'm going to have this on my mind until we get past it! The good thing is that we are going for the tour of the maternity ward on Sunday at 1:30 so if something is going to happen early, then we will be in a good place on Sunday afternoon!
I've noticed my feet are swollen today, but I did have on flip-flops the past 2 days, though I pretty much sat at my desk or was driving in the car both days. I honestly have just been too lazy to put on my shoes once i get to the office. Am definitely rethinking that for tomorrow though.
Baby is kicking a lot when I am home at night or else after lunch these days. I washed all of the clothes for the first 3 months, towels and sheets on Sunday...and have to start preparing my bag for the hospital so it's done. John has mapped out a few routes to the hospital depending on time of day, as we could hit traffic going to the beach area or the Monmouth Racetrack, or the mall, all of which are on the main road to the hospital. So we do have back roads in the plans as well.
I am pretty tired, and honestly, am ready to be done with work. 2 weeks ago I wanted more time to finish stuff up, and now I'm to the point that I know I'll never finish everything I want to get done. I will do my best, and I'm fine with that, surprisingly. The heat is not killing me, as many people think it is. I have been in the A/C mostly or else at the beach where we've had a nice sea breeze. Next time will update on the hospital tour and my next appointment.
