Does this look like a little boy defeated by the costume his mommy has made him wear?
I am so embarrassed at all these people looking at me in these tights!
can't let that Sue Sylvester behind me get her hands on them!
We had a nice Halloween day, enjoying some crisp, autumn weather...which got a bit chilly at one point when the sun went in. We met our friends Denise, Mike, Caroline and Jackson in Spring Lake in the early afternoon to trick or treat around some of the downtown stores. Check out Denise as Sue Sylvester from GLEE in one of the photos above...very clever! I wish I'd thought of it - I didn't need a wig! We are both GLEEKS! Tommy was very cute waddling around and so many folks commented on his costume. But I think most little kids are adorable in these types of costumes!
Later in the afternoon, I took Tommy up and down our street to trick or treat at some of the neighbors' homes. I felt a little silly since I'm sure most folks knew Tommy would not be eating the candy, but I made it a point of stopping only at the homes of people I actually know and have met, as several of them had seen me earlier in the day or recently to ask if we were trick or treating and telling me to make sure I brought Tommy by. I mean, I couldn't disappoint them! John stayed at the house answering the door for the kids in his mask - he was Mike the starter from Eagle Oaks...no one but the members at the club got it, of course, but it was a weird looking mask, prompting at least one kid to ask, as he walked away from the house, "what the heck was that?"
I am sick AGAIN with a cold and unfortunately have passed it to Tommy, whose nose has been running the past 2 days. Ugh! He's been up a bit at night the last 2 nights too, so neither he nor I are well rested right now. I just knew I was going to pass it on because Tommy is VERY big into giving kisses - open mouthed - on my mouth. It's very cute, but I'm pretty sure that's why he has my cold now. He's not complaining that much about the cold; his wakings seem to be teeth related, though I can't see which ones are coming in next at this juncture.
I was also really proud that he ate 2 entire chicken nuggets and a few pieces of a third on Sunday night. He refused them the previous 2 nights when I tried to get him to eat them. He even used a fork - I was shocked. I had to put the chicken on the fork, but he would take it from me and use it properly! However, he would then sometimes look to me to feed him, and then also use his fingers, which is fine, but resorting back to me is typical BOY according to many folks I've talked to. Boys are supposedly a bit lazier than girls.
Another funny thing, so I know that he is my son, is that he seems to understand the concept of cleaning up and putting things away. I asked him to help me put away his big legos the other day, and he understood when I showed him, and went around the room picking them up and putting them in the bag! After his bottles in the AM and PM, he insists on putting the cap on the bottles when he is done, so it's not misplaced. It's a riot to see him reach back and point to where it is on his nightstand in the PM - without looking!
I know it's only Tuesday, but we are looking forward to kicking these colds ASAP and to a nice weekend as a family again. We had a wonderful time this past weekend together!
