Daycare is starting to work on eliminating Tommy's morning nap. Some days it happens, and some days it doesn't. The next classroom they only do an afternoon nap, and they will probably start transitioning him up in late January a few hours a day, with March being when he moves up completely. I have to say, he does a good job on the weekends of eliminating that nap...and on Saturday, he fought me until 3:15 before he just laid himself down on the floor and closed his eyes for over 2 hours. I was torn, since he usually WAKES up around 3pm from the afternoon nap, so did this mean it would be a later to bed night? Well, it all worked out since we took Tommy to see Rutgers play Monmouth in a basketball game, which did not start until 7pm. That late nap worked out perfectly for Tommy to be alert and awake for the game.
Earlier in the day, Tommy was introduced to one of Mommy's favorite things...Tastycake CandyCakes! I used to eat these for breakfast for years! They are choclate covered mini cakes with...peanut butter in them! Yikes, right? Believe me, I was so torn (and I'm always about doing the right thing - some might have called me a goodie goodie growing up!)...all that I'm hearing in my head at the time: "Don't give a child peanut butter until after age 2!" But as I'm snacking on the candy cake, Tommy is pointing to it because he wants it...I think the first thing I've ever been eating that he has asked for. So, what do I do? Well, I gave it to him. And NOTHING HAPPENED. Except that my little guy LOVED it and wanted another one! Which he proceeded to drop on the floor once he was no longer interested...but I explained that we don't waste candycakes, and promptly called the 5 second rule and ate it myself.
Looking cute in this box that he loves being pushed around the house in!
Tommy and Daddy at the Rutgers game - 3 rows behind the bench!
We celebrated Christmas with my family on Sunday since we'll be in Illinois this year to spend the holiday with the Beurskens clan. Tommy had a great time being in the middle of all the chaos with the kids...running after them when they went to another room, and laughing and yelling with them. He was interested in opening presents, though got distracted if something really interested him!
On Monday, Santa Claus made a special visit to daycare. Tommy gave him a high five and hugged his leg, but wanted nothing to do with sitting on his lap! We'll be off to Illinois at the end of the week for a few days, but want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
