Soon??????

These pictures are from what has ended up probably being my last trip to the beach before the arrival of Baby B! John, Mom and I went to Avon on Saturday and I think I lasted 2 hours before saying it was time to go...ME, who never wants to leave the beach, was the one who said it was time to leave!!!! The weather was great, though the surf was rough and yellow flags were up so you could only go in so far in the ocean. But the breeze was almost non-existent so it felt a lot hotter than it should have.

But....it appears we may have a new member of our family joining us by the weekend possibly! My appointment yesterday showed that Baby B is STILL in the transverse position with his spine up, same as last Monday. Transverse babies don't flip as often as breech babies, so my chances for a c-section now are much higher. In fact, we have it scheduled for Friday, 9/11 at 7:30am because they like to do planned sections by the 39th week to avoid the situation of me going into labor and stressing my body and the baby out more than necessary, when you know you have to have a c-section. We are going in for Pre-Admission tests on Thursday at 9:15am just in case, and then we are going to see Dr. Passes at 12:30 for another abdominal ultrasound to see if Baby B has moved. If not, Friday it is, and if he has moved, I guess we go from there and see what happens. We talked about trying to go in and manipulate him, but there is always a chance he will go back to the transverse position. Doc said that babies in that position are usually that way for a reason - there is enough room to be that way and he is comfy. Very common depending on the shape of your uterus; mine may be more heart shaped giving him the room to go transverse, as opposed to having a pear-shaped uterus. I am fine with whatever happens, quite honestly, as I said I did not want to be a martyr and if it meant he had to come out my ear because it was better, then so be it. (Could you imagine?)

Today I went for a manicure/pedicure and did blue on my toes, and a clear French mani just in case they tell me I need to take my nail polish off one of my fingers. I think it's clear enough that they won't, but sometimes when you have surgery they like to watch your circulation I know through your fingernail.

This morning I woke up feeling a lot more pressure in my pelvic area as well, and while getting my mani/pedi was having some cramping on and off, though nothing consistent. I don't want to get in too much detail here, but there are a few other symptoms that lead me to believe that something is happening by the weekend no matter what! (No, my water did not break either - I would not be typing if it did!) I did call the doctor's office just to verify what I thought was happening since right now we have these appointments tomorrow and a scheduled c-section for Friday. If labor does start, I didn't know how that would affect things, since we don't know if the baby has turned...and based on what I am feeling, I am pretty sure he has not turned. I think he may have a big butt because that was on the left side and even my friend Denise commented that I looked bigger on that side earlier today when she saw me and was I sure that wasn't the head!??!! But it's right where the butt was yesterday, and Doc said I will probably feel him if he decides to turn himself. But maybe he is trying to turn and that's what's causing some of my symptoms. I also spoke to my Mom this afternoon to tell her what I was feeling and she told me that she had a similar experience to mine the day I was born - pains not so intense that she couldn't walk around (she actually walked a block from where Dad parked the car to the hospital - LOL!), and she had a very quick labor and delivery, so if that's how it's going to happen, so be it.

As for the 9/11 date, which of course brings everyone back to 2001, it is what it is. Life goes on, and what better way to say that than to be born on that date? I actually had minor surgery in 2003 on that date, and I feel like I see that time on the clock so often anyway, it must mean something. And my friend Renee's little boy Zach will be 3 on 9/11 this year, and what a beautiful, well-behaved little boy he is - I hope our little one is as good, whatever day he makes his arrival! This little guy will make his arrival on whatever date it's meant to be, natural or c-section!

I finished up at work on Monday at the football game (we lost, but most of the stuff I oversee went well, though there are always glitches!), so today is my 2nd day of maternity leave. I had hoped to have a week before baby arrived to chill out, but I am definitely feeling like the time is near and I am perfectly fine with that, even if it means i don't have a week to myself! As I have said, my back is aching, I am not sleeping well (and yes, i realize that will be the case when the baby is here), my legs are restless all the time, and I am exhausted!!! I thought I'd feel a little more rested without worrying about work!

So, depending on what happens with some of the symptoms I am experiencing, you may or may not hear from me until after Baby B's arrival! otherwise, i will try to post tomorrow after our appointments if possible.

otherwise, keep us in your prayers that all goes smoothly, whatever day it is and however our baby decides to arrive into this world!

P.S. the video I tried to upload last week was too large. I could not even email it to anyone. Sorry! But it was cute!

  1. How exciting to know that he'll be here soon. I think you have the perfect attitude - if it takes a c-section to get baby B here healthy and safely then so be it. I can't wait to see pics & learn his name (I haven't missed that have I?). I'm sure Maria can keep me posted about it. Best wishes for a healthy delivery!
