Visit with Grandma Cathy and Aunt Maria!

We had a great visit with John's mom and sister - just wish it was longer! They were in NYC for a girls' weekend with some other family members, and extended their trip so they could come down and visit with us. I picked them up at the train station around 1pm on Sunday, and then we went to lunch at Squan Tavern. I got Grandma Cathy hooked on the Squan antipasto several years ago, so I didn't really have to convince them to go there. Plus, they had not eaten all day!

We spent the rest of the afternoon/evening back at our house. Tommy only had 2 short naps all day, but was in high performance mode for his Aunt and Grandma! They got to see him sitting up and playing with his toys, and going crazy in the jumparoo, which had them laughing at how high he could go.

Aunt Maria got to feed Tommy his cereal on Monday morning!

On Monday, both Tommy and I took personal days from school and work to hang out with Grandma, Aunt Maria and Daddy, who was off anyway. We hung out and played all morning, Tommy took a good nap, and then we went out to lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse.

Someone was STARVING and we didn't have the highchair yet...Tommy sat like a big boy in the booth for a little while, but eventually we had to put him back in his seat!

Mommy forgot the boppy thing AGAIN so this didn't last for very long either because he's still a little too little for the booster seat!

The light above our table kept going on and off, and Tommy was fascinated by that as well as the light fixture itself...and all the rest of the decor!

When we were kids, we didn't get to see our pictures instantly...Tommy already wants to see how good he looks apparently!

We took a lot of great pictures at the restaurant, which was a smart move, as Tommy fell asleep in the car and did not wake up before Daddy had to leave with Grandma and Aunt Maria for the airport. While it was a short visit, it was a great QUALITY visit, and I know Tommy had a blast with Grandma and Aunt Maria! I think from the pictures you can tell they did too!

While John drove them to the airport, I took Tommy to the doctor for a follow up from his last ear infection. Surprise, his right ear was a little bit infected. Poor kid - and he never complains! He is on another round of antibiotics for 10 days, and also back on the nebulizer - 2x a day with the steroid that I don't remember the name of, and 3x a day with the albuterol. You really have to listen for the wheezing, but it is back.

While Grandma Cathy was here, Tommy asked me to invite her to the Mother's Day tea next Friday at his daycare, even though we didn't think she'd be coming back to visit so soon. We had already asked Grandma Barb to attend. Well, it appears BOTH Grandmas will be attending the tea with me at Tommy's school! John's parents will be coming to visit for Mother's Day weekend from Wednesday to Monday! Aunt Maria made flight reservations for them today, after Grandma decided she didn't get enough of a Tommy fix! And Opa (or is it Ompa? I've seen it spelled 2 ways - it's Dutch for Grandpa, and John's dad was born in Holland, so we think if this meets with everyone's approval Tommy will call him that!) gets to come on this trip too, which Tommy was so excited to hear tonight when I told him!

Ear infection? What ear infection? Monday night after the doctor's appointment!

Here is Tommy accomplishing his latest milestone - holding his own bottle. He started doing this in daycare last week , though he sort of held his bottle one night with me but he was too sleepy to really hold it up. John noticed him trying it a little on Thursday night when he put him to bed and he did it for us over the weekend too. This was taken Monday night at home.
