When kids say something funny, or profound, I always wonder, "where/who did they learn that from?" We've all heard the expression "out of the mouths of babes." I guess this is one of those times that expression applies.
Wednesday morning, I was getting Tommy dressed and was combing his hair. He picked up the brush and decided to brush my hair. I could feel it sticking out on one side as a result, though Tommy was admiring his work.
I asked him, "Does Mommy look pretty? Or does Mommy look silly?"
He looked at me, took my face in his hands and said, "Mommy look bootiful!"
John heard this exchange from the other room, and walked in and asked, "what did he say?" He heard what he said, but he wanted confirmation on what he heard. Of course I confirmed it, and then hugged and kissed my sweet little Tomster with tears in my eyes.
Honestly, I don't recall ever hearing him use that word before. Did he get it from watching Dora? Or his new latest interest, The Wiggles? (on DVD from a friend...are they even still around?). I have no idea where this kid came from or where he gets these lines he pulls out, as he did in this situation.
Of course, today, when we were outside and I was saying good bye as he got into Daddy's car, I had to ask him, "Does Mommy look pretty, silly or beautiful today?" Tommy looked me up and down and said, "Mommy look pretty." And since Tommy did not "do" my hair today, that's probably why I did not achieve "beautiful" status today. Or else he cheated on the eye exam he had at his 2 year well visit in September and needs to be retested!!!
Here are some pics of my BEAUTIFUL little boy taken over the last week or so:
| Mr. Preppy eating his cereal bar |
| Napped like this for almost 2.5 hours last Sunday, allowing Mommy to finally switch out her summer and winter clothes |
| Bonding with his brother Tails |
| Snuggling..or trying to at least! |
| Modeling the jacket and hat that his cousin Lexi wore about 9 years ago |
| Gotta wear the Thanksgiving shirt as much as possible this month to make it worth the purchase! |
| Laughing at Mommy's hiccups that he agreed sounded like a sick parrot while we were driving to daycare one morning |
| Completely surrounded by all the animals he loves |
SO Sweet -- what a beautiful little boy, inside and out. That makes me want to cry too!
