So Christmas was what, over a week ago? Yeah, sorry, just getting around to posting these pics from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. My poor little Tomster was sick, and I just could not get motivated to do this. I was off all last week too and just wanted to sleep and veg. And snuggle with my little boy.
We spent Christmas Eve at my parents' house with them, my sister and her family, and brother and his family. It was chaotic, as always, but the kids had a lot of fun. Tommy, Emily and Alexis were very well behaved at the children's mass we went to at 4pm. After dinner, we opened presents from one another. Tommy had a cough all week that developed into a bad cold, and the fact that 2 kids in his class were diagnosed with strep throat had me concerned too. He was a trooper until we finished the presents, and the poor kid just lost it and was inconsolable. He had a slight temperature, but had been running around like a maniac, the house was hot, and his teeth were still bugging him...and still ARE bugging him. Christmas Day he was better but not 100%, and we laid low at our house all day. Monday we took him to see Dr. May, who was concerned about the congestion and prescribed an antibiotic. Everything cleared up pretty quickly but by Thursday his BM's were becoming a bit loose...which turned into full-fledged diarrhea on Friday...and I was gone ALL DAY working the bowl game in NYC for Rutgers. I had the worst time worrying about him, never mind I was tired and hungry from such a long day. I hardly saw any of the game. (But we won!). We did not give him any more medicine after Friday night...even though the doctor told us on Saturday to go "one more day" and to call if it was still bad. Sunday it was better though we ended up in the tub after one explosion, but then on Monday it was so bad we ended up having to get him undressed in the bathtub and washed off two times! I still did not tell the doctor I stopped the medicine on Friday, but she agreed with me that we could discontinue without putting him on another antibiotic since we have a follow-up appointment on Thursday, and he was no longer coughing or congested. He went to school today, and thankfully only had two BMs, both a bit muddy, but thick, so hopefully it's all out of his system soon!
As for Christmas itself, Tommy enjoyed opening presents. He was so excited with every item he opened. It's been fun to watch him decide what he wants to play with, and what the favorite gifts are, at least in my opinion by watching what he goes to more than others.

Twilight Turtle is a HUGE hit every night at bedtime!

Best gift is always the cheapest one, isn't it? The knock-off slinky Santa found in the $1 bin at Target was in Tommy's stocking

Tux keeping far away from everyone and everything
|
Surveying his take!

Tommy showing off his building skills, but Mommy wants to show off the newly organized corner in the living room with the new storage bin that created plenty of room for the train table too!
Despite not feeling that great, Tommy was a trooper all week and made sure Mommy laughed and enjoyed her time off with him. He finds such joy and excitement in "the ornaments" we see on the houses. But my favorite memory of our "sick Christmas" week is when Tommy was in bed with me one morning, having woken up sometime during the night. I opened my eyes to him staring at me, and he put his hand on my cheek and just rubbed it very gently, and gave me the sweetest little smile. Best.Christmas.gift.ever.
Ugh, having a sick little one is so tough...for MOMMA! Glad he is doing better. I have to laugh at the $1 slinky. I bought them ALL the time when we lived in Hightstown...but I can never find them hear. They are always a huge hit!
