Our handsome little guy is now 5 months old! I can't believe it! He is doing so much more all of a sudden - he is a maniac in his jumparoo when it seems like just yesterday we were putting a blanket behind him to hold him up in the thing! He loves to jump and laugh and grab for all the toys that are on it. He has also found his voice, as he has this high pitched scream he likes to make a lot of the time - we are pretty sure he found that in daycare from some of the other kids! Even better, Tommy is ticklish for sure! Grandma found his "spots" which are on his sides under his armpits - quite entertaining and you can't help but join him in his laughter! And he did another rollover from his back to front today. Go figure neither of us witnessed it; I had him on the floor in the living room while I was washing some dishes at the sink, where I can look out to see him, and it was one of those instances where I was focused on cleaning whatever and looked up after a few seconds and he was on his belly! I ran over and applauded him like crazy so he knew he did a good thing. Now we just have to get him going the other direction, belly to back! John was outside dealing with the snow unfortunately.
I am also getting nervous, yes, nervous, that he is going to grow out of his 3-6 month and 6 month clothes before he turns 6 months old! He still hasn't worn half the clothes we have so many of them! And all the St. Patrick's Day stuff I have for him is 6 month size! I did get some extenders from my friend Wendy for the onesies - just have to find where the heck I put them!
We did not have our doctor's appointment today as we are in the midst of a BLIZZARD! They called us to cancel yesterday and we are going on Monday night at 6pm, so we'll update his growth then! It started snowing last night around 9pm; we had about 5 inches on the ground in the morning, then it was raining/sleeting, and then it turned back to all snow early afternoon and it has not let up at all. John shoveled in the morning because it was too wet to use the snowblower. He was out again this afternoon with the snowblower. We have definitely received over a foot of snow, but like this past Saturday, it's been windy so there are a lot of drifts so it's hard to guess what we've gotten. John's club was closed, and while Rutgers offices were open (they never close, even though classes were cancelled), I did not go in today - I heard only 5 people were in the building; AND we had a women's basketball game tonight that was NOT cancelled - if the teams and officials can get there, the game goes on! And I was supposed to cover the game - fortunatley my 2 colleagues made it in though. Tommy's daycare was closed as well, and we would not be surprised if tomorrow is a delayed opening for him or even if they might be closed, so we'll be playing tomorrow by ear as well. We still had a lot of snow from Saturday's storm on the ground; the baby shower for my cousin Ellen had to be moved from Saturday to Sunday, and Tommy was the hit of the shower, being the only male amongst 20-30 women! Everyone commented on how HAPPY and alert he was and he was of course, quite the flirt!
We celebrated Tommy's 5 month birthday with green beans for dinner! (gotta love that face in the top picture!) This was his third night in a row having them, after 5 nights of peas, and he can't get enough of them! He is also drinking about 7 ounces in each bottle, though his last (5th) bottle of the day is usually a little more, depending on if he didn't finish a bottle during the day. Tonight he had 9 ounces to end the day, which is the most he's ever had in one sitting! Max is supposed to be 40 ounces a day, so he had 35 ounces today plus about 1.5 ounces with the oatmeal and then half a container of green beans. I know some babies his age and younger are drinking 8-10 ounces a bottle, but he was holding at 6-7 til last week, and then this week I started giving him 7 oz. every bottle, but usually there is one bottle a day he leaves an ounce or two. So I don't think he's been ready for more - but we'll see since today he seemed extra hungry!
I'm still having problems posting video to the blog...very frustrating. I went back to the old blogger format but when I upload a video it takes forever and then tells me there was an error. If I'm home tomorrow due to the snow I will try again.
