Happy Mother's Day!

Tommy's first school picture; 6 months old; taken in March 2010

Happy Mother's Day to everyone! While technically this is my first "official" one as a mom, I've been fortunate to have 2 nieces and a nephew who always remembered their Aunt Suzie on this day. But today does feel extra special, I have to admit!

We have had so much fun with Grandma Cathy and Opa Chris since they arrived on Wednesday! I will post pictures later in another post when I upload them, but we took Tommy out of school Thursday afternoon to spend it with Grandma and Opa. Grandma went with me to Tommy's doctor appointment on Thursday afternoon as well. It was a recheck for the last ear infection, and Tommy got a clean bill of health! The wheezing is gone, so no more nebulizer at this point and his ears were clear too. On Friday, both Grandmas and I went to the Mother's Day tea and planting at Tommy's school. Tommy was asleep when we arrived, so we watched and played with the other babies until finally I had to wake the little man up! We planted a flower in a pot and had some iced tea and cookies. We got some good pictures that I will share later.

We also went out to eat 2 nights in a row with Tommy, which is a big deal, since we don't do that too often. It was nice to get outside of our comfort zone, but it was also easier with 8 hands to pass Tommy around since he has perfect timing of waking up just as the entrees are served! We went to Four Winds for some steak and seafood on Friday night, and Tommy really enjoyed the music/entertainment they had that night. Saturday night we went to Squan Tavern for Italian. Tommy was, as usual, a HUGE flirt, and a big hit with the wait staff and other patrons. Though, for the first time ever, he was mistaken for a girl! On Friday I put him him in his pajamas before we went out and they were beige with a little brown, so I guess neutral upon first glance. Three people asked us how old "she" was and we nicely said, "He's 8 months, and his long eyelashes confuse people a lot when he's not in blue!" I have made the same mistake myself and always feel so bad, and I know it was unintentional. Last time he'll be wearing neutral in public though!

John's mom treated me (and herself) to a manicure/pedicure on Saturday while John and his dad went out shopping...I wonder what for???? Today we will be going to my sister's to spend the day with them and my parents. John had to work at the golf club for the Mother's Day brunch so we are just waiting for him to get home and then we will leave.

I wanted to wish a Happy Mother's Day to everyone, especially to so many of you who helped me get to this point after almost 8 months of being a mom myself. I could not have done it without the support of so many people - especially my mom, John's mom, my sister Karyn, sisters-in-law Cindy and Maria, my Aunt Denise, Aunt Mary Joyce, my friend Denise, my 5 Findlay (girl) cousins who now have 16 kids amongst them and one on the way, my friend Susanne, and so many of my other girlfriends who have provided tips and advice in conversations over the past few months - I am so lucky to have you all!

I will post pictures from the weekend in the next day or two, but did not want to pass today by without wishing a Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
