So, if you haven't figured it out yet from the title, Tommy is officially scooting! On his recap sheet from school today they wrote, "Tommy is so cute scooting around the classroom now!" And how he scoots, it's like you don't even realize he's moving, and you might look away briefly and suddenly he's in a totally different place! No video yet - remember, this is a kid who stops performing when he sees a camera most of the time. As for crawling, he looks like he is going to do it when he starts to go forward while scooting, but usually he ends up on his belly frustrated. He pushes himself up very well, but just can't get that tummy off the ground. He has done a little bit of the army crawl, more backward than forward.
Today, John lowered Tommy's crib to the middle setting. We had him sitting up in the crib on Saturday while we were both in his room doing stuff, and we looked over at one point to find that he had pulled himself up to a standing position using the aquarium music thing on the side of his crib. While we have not yet seen him get himself to a sitting position from laying down, he could probably do it if he thought about it and got himself on his tummy and pushed himself around. So, the crib got lowered. Of course now the dust ruffle is all messed up...and the footrest that I used while I was nursing is now back in use as a stepstool for me to stand on so I can have better access to put Tommy in his crib since I'm so short.
I got my Zumba DVD set last week and while I'd like to say I've done it every day/night since, that's not the case. I did the 20 minute DVD on Thursday night at 10pm, and unfortunately have not had any time since then to squeeze it in, but I LOVED the workout. I don't like to work out that late, but to fit exercise in now, sometimes that's what I have to do. I set myself up in the front living room, but kept it dark so if anyone walked by outside hopefully they would not notice me in my shorts and sports bra shaking my hips around. I figured 10pm would be safe from too many people walking by, but I know I did see someone go by with their dog while I was doing the salsa or something - lovely. Hopefully they did not see me. I definitely worked up a sweat, had a stitch in my left side that was pretty intense but thankfully the segment ended and there was a brief break, but my calves were on fire. I'm hoping to try to get 2-3 of the workouts in a week if possible. I did get to spinning class 3 out of the last 4 Mondays (last week there was no class b/c of Rutgers graduations), and I signed up for a Flex Pass at the gym for the summer which allows me to take a variety of classes like Spin, Zumba, Willpower and Grace, Pilates, Interval Workout, Total Body Training. I am hoping to do Spin or Zumba on Monday nights and then try to take 2-3 classes that are offered at lunchtime. That won't always be possible depending on what I have going on, so that's where the Zumba DVD's will come in handy hopefully. I must say, I do feel more energetic now that I am getting into a little bit of a routine for working out - it's not where I was prior to January 2009, but that's okay. I feel like I'm getting a lot more out of the workouts that I do get in for myself!
Peek A Boo! I see you! This was after he stood up in the crib on Saturday.
I will end tonight with a funny, as it had John cracking up for a few minutes - not sure if it's going to be as funny in print, but here goes. Every year I plant a vegetable garden. That's actually pretty funny since anyone who knew me growing up knew me as someone who didn't eat veggies. Usually I just do tomatoes, cukes, lettuce and green peppers. This year I also added broccoli and zucchini. And my sister gave me some herbs that I put in a box on the deck...I guess she still holds out hope that I'll cook something with fresh ingredients one day. Anyway, some years the garden does better than others. Last year I could have had my own farmer's market stand with all the tomatoes we had. I started to ask John if he had fertilized the vegetable garden with the Miracle Grow we bought this weekend. Except I could not remember the word "fertilized." I ended up asking him if he had "marinated the garden." When I said it, I knew it wasn't right, but I could not think of the correct word. John got a real kick out of it and said I had to share it on the blog. So here you are honey. This is just further proof that MOMMY BRAIN is for real.
Good for you on the working out. We have an eliptical and I have only used it once. I have to start working out soon. It's so hard to get back into it. Love the pictures of Tommy! He is way too cute.
