Tommy sporting the fatigues Pop-Pop gave him for Christmas
Saturday morning, Tommy had his first upset stomach EVER! Poor kid was so scared, as he didn't know what was happening. It came out of nowhere. We were playing in the front living room and he got up to walk out to the kitchen. I followed him, and all of a sudden...BLECH! All over the floor in the hallway by the downstairs bathroom (I admit later to being so proud my smart boy did not get sick on the carpet...he could teach the cats a thing or two as they leave hairballs ALWAYS and ONLY on the carpet!). John was in the bathroom at the time, so I warned him to watch out when he opened the door; he cleaned that up while I got Tommy changed. Anyone who has seen us getting Tommy dressed or undressed knows that it's like wrestling an alligator most of the time. This time, he willingly laid their while I got him cleaned up and changed.
He seemed to bounce back and John brought him downstairs to play while I got showered and dressed, but before I could do that, he got sick again - this time in the family room (no carpet!), not only all over him, but on his pillow pet and on his sheet and mat that he naps on. Fortunately, these were the only two times that Tommy got sick all day. He never had a fever (I checked throughout the day), but he was never quite himself the rest of the day either. His naps were pretty short, and he was very clingy and just wanted to snuggle and cuddle. He also did not eat much all day; in fact he did not WANT to eat. I did not have any Pedialyte that hadn't expired unfortunately, but he was good about drinking water because he likes to drink water out of MY cup or glass these days with my assistance. So of course I was offering it left and right to him, when other days I'll try to hide it at the kitchen table so he doesn't start yelling for it!
John wondered if maybe the yogurt he had for breakfast was bad. In all honesty, he did not have much of the yogurt, and that was only offered after he only had one bite of his french toast stick and almost ZERO cheerios. I sort of think something was working on him since he never refuses cheerios. Even getting him to much on anything else during the day was an epic fail. John was more successful getting him to eat something for dinner after I left to go work a basketball game, and he did sleep well last night.
Here's the patient hanging in his recliner...with Tux in his favorite spot too! (Within 30 seconds, Tux was on the other side of the house when he realized Tommy realized he was there!)
The patient just before bedtime on Saturday. Feeling much better -Daddy got him to eat a decent dinner!
We got a few more inches of snow on Saturday. Since we were neglectful parents and never brought Tommy out to play in the 30 inches from last week, I bundled him up today and let him try out his new sled for the first time. John was working, so trying to pull Tommy and take pictures and video without tripping or falling over backwards was not easy. But the little guy loved when I pulled him really fast up and down the street. He is going to really love it when we go sledding on a hill when he is a little older! We have what I can best describe as a water basin at the entrance to our development, and the kids sled on that. But I want to take him up to "double hill" in Bayonne, where I grew up when he's old enough - I have such great memories of sledding there with my family as a kid...and the hill is MUCH bigger than what we've got here. Of course, people tell me that "double hill" is not what it used to be now that we are all grown up. All bundled up, trying to kick the blanket off
So here we are on Sunday night...Mommy is looking forward to the routine starting up again tomorrow!
