We went to our friends' Denise and Mike's house on Sunday for a party to celebrate their daughter's birthday (and Mike's!). They have a pool, and we started the summer off Memorial Day weekend in their backyard with Tommy not very happy that Mommy took him in the pool. And if you've been following us, you know that attempts to get Tommy in the baby pool did not succeed, nor did he appreciate the pool or ocean during our vacation to the Outer Banks. Even at daycare, Tommy did not like the sprinklers. He did like the water table, and the squirt guns, I came to find out, but here we are at the end of the summer, probably the last hurrah for the pool, and look at what happened:
Our friends have a dog named Clarence who the first time he and Tommy met, Clarence went a little crazy with Tommy's toes, and Tommy was just not feeling the love. Since then, however, he had a grand time with Toby, the chihuahua that my sister and her family adopted a few months ago, and he has also become quite attached to a stuffed dog that my friend Rosalie gave us last year as a gift while I was pregnant. That dog looks a little like Clarence, aka C-Dog. Watch what happens next!
Sad to see summer ending, but we've had beautiful weather all weekend and the entire week leading up to Tommy's birthday looks great too. There is definitely a hint of autumn in the air, as the humidity is gone but the temps have been in the 80's the past few days but cooler at night. Nice to be able to turn the air conditioners off!
