Tommy's Birthday Weekend Day #3

Sunday was Oma, Opa, and Aunt Maria's last full day with us before they went back to Illinois, and unfortunately we got some rain and it was a bit chilly. But we made it a fun day; the girls took Tommy to the mall, while Daddy and Opa hung out watching football and golf before going up to Eagle Oaks where John works. Tommy was amazingly patient and very good during our trip to the mall, which included a visit to the Stride Rite store for some new shoes (dang - I had no idea I'd be spending so much money on a pair of toddler's shoes, but I know they need the support of a good shoe when they first start walking.). After the mall, we quick changed and then met the boys up at Eagle Oaks for dinner. Tommy once again was an angel for us throughout the dinner. He charmed all of the staff with his laughter, flirted with our server, and was complimented by many of the club members there that he was just too happy of a baby and that he should be asked to leave!

And since it is so prominent in some of the pictures, yes, that is a scratch on Tommy's forehead. He got it on Sunday at some point when he arched himself back and hit one of Oma's rings when he was bugging Daddy in the kitchen where he was child proofing the cabinets (apparently Tommy wasn't too thrilled with us doing that). We didn't even know what happened at first when he started crying as if he was hurt, but a few minutes later we saw the scratch and understood why he reacted the way he did. He was totally fine, and the scratch is barely there now. It went nicely with the two bruises on either side of his forehead that he gave himself knocking into things at school. I'm glad we did his formal birthday pictures before his birthday! The fact that Tommy is walking and into so much more and so curious means we need to be prepared for plenty more of these types of bumps and bruises! In fact, next post I'll share what happened AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE during Tommy's one year visit...
