Sometimes You Feel Like A Nugget...

...which Tommy did feel like having last Saturday night while at Friendly's with my mom, sister, brother-in-law and niece. Yes, the Tomster ate a chicken nugget...well, more like a finger, but he ate it! This photo is exaggerated - we didn't really feed him like this, but the fact that he opened so wide to take a bite - too funny!

Earlier in the day we went to my niece Alexis's soccer game, which they won! They also ended up getting first place in the tournament the next day! Yeah Lexi! Tommy had lots of fun running around on the sidelines. He didn't have much interest in watching the game though!

Cousin Lexi so excited to see Tommy, as always!

Watching Lexi eat her chicken, Tommy's response? "Anything you can do, I can do better."

Finger lickin' good!

Briar looks as though she were hypnotized by Tommy's cuteness!

Tommy had fun playing with Briar and Toby, my sister's family's dogs. Sometimes their barking freaked him out, but he did laugh a lot too. Not sure why kids like to be scared sometimes, and then other times don't appreciate it. Weird!

Tommy turned 13 months old on Sunday, October 10th - I still don't know how that can be possible. One of his top teeth has been trying to break through all week - it actually LOOKS painful, and his teachers agree he has not handled the teething as well as some kids do. But we all have different pain threshholds, right? Overall, he has been pretty good. This week we had one really rough night - Tuesday, when Tommy woke up screaming around 10pm and he did so for about 30 minutes. Nothing we did could calm him down, he didn't want the teething toys, didn't want a bottle, didn't want to be held, then did want to be held. We sat on the floor in his room with him for a bit, and his face was all blotchy. He was shaking his head back and forth "no" as if to shake the pain out. It was awful to watch. Finally, I brought him in our room and we laid down on the bed to watch some TV. Sure enough, it worked. Not immediately, and he still was obviously in some discomfort, but he would not let us give him the teething tablets or any acetominophin (non-Tylenol since that's still on recall). We ended up keeping him in our bed for the night, and surprisingly, we all slept pretty well. Last night he woke up briefly around midnight and within 2 minutes of me going in to check on him after 10 minutes of crying, he was out for the rest of the night. Tooth has still not really broken through the gums!

As you saw from the chicken fingers, he is eating some more "table" food that is not pureed. But we think he'll be a grazer like most of us...he loves his veggie sticks/chips especially, though he'd prefer the baby cheese doodles I think...but I am pushing the veggie sticks a little more! He is drinking from a straw now from his sippy cups but still has bottles in the AM when he gets up and PM before bed. I've tried the sippy cups but he is not happy when presented with those at those two times. Again, he's only 13 months old, so I know we'll transition from that eventually.

Tonight I am taking him for part 2 of his flu shot. Hopefully no reaction - last month he did have some "loose" you know whats for a few days, but not so bad that he was sent home from school. Last week there was something going around at school because he had some loose ones for several days as well, but they told me everyone in his room and the baby room had it. No fevers though. We went through a ton of diaper cream and diapers though! I was blaming the teething but some things say that does not cause THAT.

We are excited for Halloween...Tommy LOVES his costume and pulls it out to hug it from his closet every chance he gets...we have 3 times to dress him up this year, so we will definitely be getting lots of photos to share with everyone!

  1. I hear Tommy is eating more food now! Gooood BOY! I cannot wait to see his costume this year-we still are not sure what Cora is going to be. Any ideas?
