WHAT Are You Doing????

It's very hard to watch Tommy do things he shouldn't be doing and not laugh.  I am the world's worst at maintaining a poker face, and I'm pretty sure my son knows it too, because he'll give me this little sideways glance and grin because he just knows I'm that weak.

His latest feat is climbing on top of his Fisher Price Little People garage. And also standing on one of the chairs that go with his table.  He rigged up a bag filled with stuffed animals to sit on at his table on Saturday morning, so I decided to bring out one of the chairs which were too big for him.  It is still too big, but he does like sitting on it. And standing.    I didn't get a great still shot of Tommy standing on top of either the garage or chair, but I think  the video at the bottom more than illustrates the point.  I realize me taking the time to take videos of these antics are only encouraging this more, but you can see by his reactions to my words that he knows he shouldn't be doing this.

Looks like he's practicing for the waterslide he hopes that Mommy will take him too one day

Giving that irrisistable glance and grin after he quickly sat down and I missed a photo of him standing on the chair

Questioning why the clip with the balloon attached to it is on Elmo's hand
Demonstrating how to safely get down off the garage
At church on Saturday night, the couple behind us thought he was 2 years old the way he was climbing on and off chairs, reaching the handle to open the door to escape the cry room (he can not only reach it but actually open it), and jumping all over the place.  Their son was only 13 months, and I told them that I remember we used the stroller up until about 14 months...so be prepared!  And Tommy knew he was entertaining them because he kept stopping to smile at them to see if they liked what he was doing.  Even strangers have a hard time maintaining a poker face!

Disclaimer:  No children were harmed during the making of this video!

I'm actually quite proud of myself in that I did not freak out when Tommy did fall off the garage.  I did react physically, which you can't see obviously, but caught myself from verbally reacting which  might have resulted in him crying or thinking he was hurt.

And you can see that Tommy knows right from wrong already, and he did listen to me pretty well about getting DOWN.

I keep wondering what he's going to be doing next...he isn't able to get up on the couch on his own yet, but when he does, we may want to take the gate down, because there won't be a reason to keep him gated in that room since we'll need to get to him quickly!
